A game without an account

Pancakes Boat does not ask for your name, email or payment details. Voyage progress and preferences may be stored only in your browser on your device.

Optional starting point

Only when you press Start near me can your browser ask for a location coordinate, which may be precise. Pancakes Boat uses it locally to choose a nearby simulated sea starting point and may save the resulting boat position in local browser voyage data. Starting near you does not by itself send that coordinate to Pancakes Boat, MET Norway, analytics, Google or another map provider. Coastline and nearest-water placement are approximate.

Optional live weather

Only when you separately press Use live weather at my boat does the browser send the yacht's current game position, rounded to 0.1 degrees, and the request time to Pancakes Boat's weather proxy. The proxy sends that rounded position to MET Norway for modelled forecast data and, where available, radar-derived precipitation nowcast. It does not send MET Norway your browser cookies, authorization, referrer or network address. Coordinate request logging is disabled on our proxy, but short-lived cached weather is shared by rounded grid point. Weather follows the yacht rather than silently retaining your original device location. Data from MET Norway is licensed under CC BY 4.0.

Basic server records

Like most websites, our host may record short technical logs such as time, requested page, browser type and network address for reliability and abuse prevention. The live-weather coordinate paths are excluded from access logs. We do not sell personal data.

Your control

You can turn live weather off at any time and remove local game data by clearing site data in your browser. Pancakes Boat does not currently offer an individual support channel or account service.
